But sometimes it’s not working. The reason is you don’t have a correct format or you forget some cautions for the right structure.

3 Basic Types of WP shortcode

These are just the basic wordpress shortcodes that a normal web designer encounter. I know there are more advance feature for this, but let’s just focus on the most common. Also, note that the codes below will be placed in functions.php of your active WordPress theme.

1. Inserting a text or HTML using WordPress Shortcode

You have this situation that you need to insert a specific piece of html codes inside a post or page but your client is too afraid to insert HTML inside the editor.

Let me show you the screen shot below with corresponding label image A and B.

In image A, you will notice that there is a black border around the shape even if we don’t apply a border style. Image B shows what we expect like what we have on older versions of Photoshop. This black border is actually a path which is useful when you will modify the path either add new points or move the vertices. But most of the time, it’s annoying because you can’t actually see what you’re real style is.

Solution

The fastest way that I can share with you is hit Shift+Command+H to hide that border or Shift+Control+H on Windows(not so sure about that). And when you selected that shape and you open the layer style window like image A and B above, you can just press Command+H and the black border will gone.

In this case, we need to add filter to make this happen. Simply add this to wordpress template’s function.php
